Richard Hordacre took over the business in 1995 and has successfully developed
a specialty native seedling nursery. Hamel Nursery relocated to Coolup, Western Australia in 2007. Coolup is a 30 minute drive southeast of Mandurah. With the opening of the new Perth to Bunbury highway Hamel Nursery is now only a 60 minute drive south of Perth. Take the Herron Point Rd. East exit off the Forrest Highway.
A new site, new infrastructure, state of the art equipment and years of experience ensure that Hamel Nursery produces consistently high quality native tree and shrub seedlings from Australia.
His interest in native flora developed at an early age. While growing up on the family farm in WA, Richard began collecting native seed and experimenting with various propagation methods. He has refined these techniques over the years and is now consistently producing 1.6 million quality sun hardened seedlings annually.
Richard has combined his many years experience with the latest technology to provide optimum growing conditions for seedlings that have a greater chance of survival in the field. Hamel Nursery are committed to providing quality indigenous seedlings from Australia. They practice and promote the use of native vegetation, biodiversity and sustainable farm practices.
Hamel Nursery is a West Australian owned and operated company. They have supplied seedlings to Albany in the Great Southern, Margaret River in the South West, Katanning in the Wheatbelt and Geraldton in the Midwest.
