Timber

Shelterbelts

Soil stabilization

Floriculture

Richard Hordacre took over the business in 1995 and has successfully developed

a specialty native seedling nursery. Hamel Nursery relocated to Coolup, Western Australia in 2007. Coolup is a 30 minute drive southeast of Mandurah or a 60 minute drive south of Perth. Take the Herron Point Rd. East exit off the Forrest Highway.

A new site, new infrastructure, state of the art equipment and years of experience ensure that Hamel Nursery produces consistently high quality native tree and shrub seedlings from Australia.

New owners Dion and Kate Pisconeri have taken over Hamel Nursery in 2023. They have hit the ground running and are very excited to continue Richard Hordacre's invaluable legacy of providing quality native seedings and excellent service.

Dion grew up in Waroona amongst a large family who share a passion for gardening and horticulture. With a desire to move out of the mechanical world and into a field he loves, Dion attained a Certificate 3 in Horticulture, and has gotten to know and begin to understand the workings of Hamel Nursery with Richard over the last five years.

Passionate about all things living, Kate has a Bachelor of Science (Biological Sciences) degree and has worked at Alcoa mining for 12 years on the Minesite Environmental/ Rehabilitation Management team. Together, they have built their family home in Waroona where they live with their three children and pets and share a love for their expansive gardens.

Dion is committed to maintaining the same high standards and personalised service that Richard and the team at Hamel Nursery deliver. Fortunately, Richard is still very much around and available to answer any specialised queries whilst Dion fully transitions into the role.

Hamel Nursery are committed to providing quality indigenous seedlings from Australia. They practice and promote the use of native vegetation, biodiversity and sustainable farm practices.

Hamel Nursery is a West Australian owned and operated company. They have supplied seedlings to Albany in the Great Southern, Margaret River in the South West, Katanning in the Wheatbelt and Geraldton in the Midwest.

Call the nursery if you need advice on native trees or shrubs, or an on-site consultancy service is available.
